Koshi River’s water discharge fluctuating

Inaruwa, Aug 31 (RSS): The level of water in Saptakoshi River has started fluctuating lately. Earlier, there was a rise in the water’s level following incessant rains in the eastern hilly and Terai districts.

This morning, the flow of water in the river was measured at 214,745 cusecs per second and the measurement was taken at 7:00 am at the Koshi Barrage, according to District Police Office, Sunsari’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Narendra Kumar Karki.

The previous measurement taken at 6:00 am showed the water flow at 211,225 cusecs per second. Though rain has stopped lately, fluctuations have been noticed in the flow of water and 28 sluice gates along the Barrage have been opened, according to DSP Karki.

It may be noted that on Sunday, the water’s flow in the river was measured ever highest of the year. It had reached 274,005 cusecs per second, prompting the Barrage management to open 38 gates.
